He sat like a Sentinel, at the top of my yard. If you looked at him, he'd disappear.
We've had many cat visitors. With some exceptions, most have homes & are familiar. I take photos of them, in case they show up on Lost Cat networks. This new arrival was unknown.

We did all the usual stuff people should do, when they find a cat.

Check the LOST CAT network. Nothing. Maybe someone (senior) isn't tuned into online reporting. There's missing cat posters everywhere, so we did the town. Checked them all.
Unbelievably, no one was looking for him? He was a lovely healthy young boy, but had been out a long time.

Took him to the vet, that was fun.
Neutered, no chip.
